I chose DeWalt because they have a history of backwards-compatible battery technology, so I don't worry that I will have to stop using working tools because I can't find replacement batteries.
I've not put anything to heavy use--I bought this set so I would have the tool for the odd job--but I have used everything at least once and it has all been excellent, with the exception of the circular saw. The blade guard seems to be quite wimpy plastic and the saw feels underpowered; it wouldn't cut wet pressure treated 2 x 4. It did cut dry pressure treated 4 x 4 in two passes, and I think it just isn't possible to get enough power for a circular saw out of an 18-volt battery, so I am not upset; but you can't think of this as a cord-free version of a standard circular saw.
I like the mix of tools, other kits had something in them I knew I would never use. Lots of batteries & two chargers are nice. The vehicle charger is great to have but my current vehicle (99 Subaru Legacy) doesn't supply enough current for the charger when pretty much anything else is on (like headlights, or brake lights and turn signal) so plan on only using this with a beefier vehicle.Get more detail about DEWALT DCK550VX 18-Volt XRP Cordless 5-Tool Combo Kit with Vehicle Charger.
