Buy Hitachi KC18DBL 4-Tool Lithium-Ion Combo Kit

Please note I bought the 9pc kit which has the same tools

I have had about 10 cordless drills in the past 15 years and recently upgraded to this Hitachi 9 pc kit.

Most recently I had a Dewalt 18v 4pc that was about 5 years old. even though my Dewalt tools were in OK shape the 4 batteries were pretty much dead and had been "revived" a few times. I looked at replacing the batteries but between spending $250 for a new charger and pair of batteries or just replacing the whole kit it made sense to get new tools (my drill needed repair as well).

My initial impression is mixed I chose the Hitachi set over the Dewalt mainly due to cost and the Lithium Ion batteries, not to mention that they have a 10 year warranty on their tools.

The batteries on the Hitachi kit were definitely lighter than dewalt's. seemed like they were almost 1/3rd the weight but their plastic shell does seem to be cheaper quality then dewalt's and the clip mechanism also seems not as sturdy (hopefully though they will last longer).

I was very disappointed with the Hitachi lantern. The description states it has both LED's and a fluorescent lamp what it doesn't state is that there is ONLY 1 LED. Now com-on what can you do with 1 LED? the fluorescent bulb isn't that great compared to Dewalts gooseneck lamp this thing is nothing more than a childs toy.

Looking at the Drill itself, it's a nice solidly made tool. The design is a bit funky as it has a mix of plastic and rubber pieces its very comparable to the Dewalt 18v unit. Hitachi does fall WAY short on the silly belt clip / LED light that is attached to the lower left side of the tool. First off the LED is YELLOW another "come-on what are you thinking?" as it should be a white bulb also noteworthy is that it seems to be powered by its own battery. I have not taken the light apart to determine its power source but my guess is a couple of flat watch type batts and well that makes it worthless as well one of those marketing add ons that really does not need to be there.

The Sawzall, jigsaw grinder and SDS drill are all high quality once again the funky combination of plastic and rubber. I DID however really like the rubber surround that covered the front of the sawzall it makes the tool very comfortable to use.

My Favorite piece here so far is the one that I thought would be used the least. The 1/4" impact driver is great for driving screws I have even used a socket adapter into it and used it when working on my lawn equipment. Weight wise its about the same as my older Makita 14.4v unit but has alot more power is much smaller and drives long screws and bolts 500% better than a non impact driver.

My least favorite tool here is the "blower" I do alot of woodworking and thought it would be nice to have it handy to to blow off sawdust. I figured I'd have it handy and would be quicker than having to find the blower attachment for my air compressor. The unit works ok but its one of those tools that if you are in your shop and you have an air compressor 15 feet away its no big deal and add no value to your combo.

so what do I miss?

Not much if anything at all the tools are very comparable to my old Dewalt kit as mentioned the batteries and the charger appear to be cheaper plastic but that's nothing major and should not be a deal breaker.

I do plan on buying the matching impact wrench a few extra batteries and the real flashlight (since the florescent lantern is a joke) here in a few months.

I do however want to point out that I wish Hitachi made a right angle drill as one does come with Dewalt's larger 18v kits.

Deal wise I bought mine from tyler tool they were running free shipping and a 10% off coupon so the setup cost me $782.10

Followup on 1/2" hammer drill. Was using a 2" hole saw to drill through 2 2x4's drill did not make it through without overheating. I should state the drill was not the first to stop the battery went into protect mode as I swapped the battery out for the one in the light. The lamp did not turn back on for about 3 minutes untill the battery cooled. Even with the second battery in the drill I had to stop for 15 minutes to let it cool down because it kept shutting down. I allowed the drill and batteries to rest for about 15 to 20 minutes but still was unable to continue as the drill was still hot and shut down after a few seconds.

I finally got tired of screwing around and went to the garage for my Milwaukee 1/2" corded hammer drill and that hole that took 3+ minutes with the cordless took 15 seconds to finish.

If your a homeowner this setup will work for you BUT if you are a pro and depend on the capabilities of your tools MOVE ON!

My final thought? Damn I wish I wasn't cheap and had spent the extra $200 on the dewalt set!Get more detail about Hitachi KC18DBL 4-Tool Lithium-Ion Combo Kit.

Purchase Milwaukee 0928-29 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit

I bought a kit like this about 2 yr's ago. I own a cabinet shop in MD. So for installations its one bag of tools instead of several seperate boxes to carry in the home. I have noticed the sawzal runs the battery dry very quickly. As does the circular saw. The cold drains the battery's as well. The drill works well in any material. The bags support rods have poked thru the bag @ the ends around the zipper area. Lucky for me my install's need little cutting on site. So my three stars reflect the cost vs. the outcome. I do not use these tools everday. The batteries do have the charge indicator lights to tell how drained it is before you use it. If nothing else the Drill is a excellent product in the V28. If your a handy man and wish to use this bag of tools everyday you may be disapointed in a year.Get more detail about Milwaukee 0928-29 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit.

Where To Buy Makita LCT302W 10.8-Volt Ultra Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo Kit

I love these drills! I watched a cabinet installer who was working at my house use these tools one day and got a chance to question him about battery life and power, and then I borrowed them for a few minutes to use myself. He used them both the drill and the driver intermittently for about 5 hours on one charge, and secured numerous fasteners, and drilled several 1 1/2" holes for grommets in these cabinets.

I was sold, after watching him use the tools, and I have not been disappointed since I bought my own set.Get more detail about Makita LCT302W 10.8-Volt Ultra Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo Kit.

Shop For Hitachi KC10DFL 12-Volt Peak 2-Tool Li-Ion Combo Kit with Carrying Bag

I own the complete micro 10.8 volt line they are great tools for light duty jobs that they were design for. The small size and ergonomics makes it great for light duty work in electrical, HVAC, Cabinetry trades and are grate for home use as well. But they should not be compared against the power and torque that your normal 12v, 14v and 18v cordless power tools will provide.Get more detail about Hitachi KC10DFL 12-Volt Peak 2-Tool Li-Ion Combo Kit with Carrying Bag.

Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP841 18-Volt Super Combo Kit

I bought this set months ago, when I was really only looking for a cordless drill. I didn't think I would need the sabre saw or the circular saw, and honestly I could have survived without them. But all the items are superb tools, and for the cost of a good drill, you get a great drill and three other great tools. The only drawback is one of the two batteries supplied is poor at holding a charge. For home use these batteries--even the bad one--are OK. For heavy commercial use, the whole set would be excellent but for the batteries. I suspect that poor batteries are the reason such great tools are available for such a low price. If better (longer lasting) batteries are available, they would make this an absolutely unbeatable set.Get more detail about Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP841 18-Volt Super Combo Kit.

Milwaukee 2694-24 M18 18-Volt 4-Tool Cordless Combo Kit Review

Great Combo Kit for the money. Milwaukee makes quality tool. Haven't had any issues with the charging or batteries. Even the light is fairly useful. Hammer Drill is great with plenty of power. Used it to drill through cinder block when installing a surface mount outlet in my basement. I paid 450.00 at one of the chain home center stores, so 399.99 is a good deal.Get more detail about Milwaukee 2694-24 M18 18-Volt 4-Tool Cordless Combo Kit.

I had been looking to purchase an additional 2 batteries for these tools I use all the time. Here in town it was going to cost $65.00 (with CA tax)for them. Getting the 2 batteries and additional charger, circular saw, drill and carry bag for $79.00 (no tax, no shipping) was a "no-brainer. Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP844 One-Plus 18-Volt Cordless Lithium-Ion 4-Piece Combo Kit Best Quality

I am extremely disappointed at this purchase. The Ryobi tools are good tools. But, it was a poor choice to buy them on-line from Amazon. The write up was very deceiving. It did describe that factory reconditioned tools might have scratches. The write-up however said "1 new set available for $195.99." In different screens it said factory reconditioned. It was difficult to know what we were getting. The tools sent look like rummage sale tools. They have been used hard and even the batteries are all scratched up. The recipricating saw looks like it has been chewed on. I am extremely dissappointed that I didn't go to Home Depot and get a brand new set for just $50 more. I would return them for a full refund but after ordering them, I sold my old set that I had had several years that looked much newer than what I got. I would have thought the reconditioned set might at least have new batteries as the lifespan of Ryobi batteries has long been the products downfall.Get more detail about Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP844 One-Plus 18-Volt Cordless Lithium-Ion 4-Piece Combo Kit.

Makita LXT405 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit, 4-Piece Get it now!

I have only owned a few tools in my life, but these by far surpass any I have ever used. The tools have more power, longer battery life, and are better quality.

I used the impact driver and circular saw (mainly) to build a fence around my parents yard, and it was a snap using one battery for it all. I would drive what I needed, then switch the battery to the saw and cut. The battery lasts all day for the impact driver, but runs out much faster with the work load of the circular saw. Another reviewer commented that you shouldn't use the saw for more than 15 minutes of cutting at a time. I agree, give it some rest, but the battery will run for at least 4 of those, so an hour of actual cutting hardwoods without dying.

All in all, definitely worth the purchase. If you need cordless, get Makita LXT. And HURRY, you can still get a free tool if you buy it now and use the rebate!Get more detail about Makita LXT405 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit, 4-Piece.

Bosch CLPK21-120 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Combo Kit Buy Now

To tell you the truth, I bought this product partially by mistake. Whether I didn't read enough of the details, or what, I don't know. First of all, I wanted the impact driver. Second, I wanted a fast compact drill. So, when I saw this twin-pack kit I thought "Great! I can get both the drill and the impact driver for a great price!" Except... the drill isn't the one I thought I was getting. What I got is the pocket driver. It uses the quick-change bits and accessories. That's good. But, it's a slow turner...too slow, in my opinion, for small bits, 500 RPM max. It takes a while for small bits to bore through. On the other hand, the slow speed means it has more torque and I found it works great when I want to turn things slow, like larger screws, bolts & nuts. I have more control, and because of its small size I can get into tight places. I'm glad I got it! Great for working on the car or truck, too.

About the impact driver, My construction friends have been telling me for a long time that I need to get an impact driver because it turns in philips-head screws so much more efficiently. After the millionth time of stripping out the screw head or the philips bit, I relented and finally got the driver I've been drooling over. I work with security systems, so I am up and down ladders a lot and sometimes work in tight places. After having it out on several jobs I don't understand why I didn't get one sooner. It's true, it doesn't strip out the heads or the bits. The screw just goes in with no hassle. This tool runs smooth and quiet, and is MUCH lighter than my 18v NiCad drill, (so my pants don't fall off when the drill is hanging from my belt). Oh, and did I say it has a light for working in dark places? Bottom line... I love it!

I'm hooked on Bosch tools and plan to eventually get the drill with the regular chuck (PS30-2A). I also have an indispensable angle driver, PS10-2A, which I also bought from Amazon last year.Get more detail about Bosch CLPK21-120 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Combo Kit.

Makita LXT407 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Piece Combo Kit Decide Now

Ok, I just purchased Makita LXT407 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Piece Combo Kit & am going to send in for the bare tool rebate where I'm choosing the circular saw. You Can't go wrong with that at all point blank. I've seen the same kit in home depot for close to $500 after taxes. I've used the flashlight, hammer drill & impact driver but not extensively. I have to say they all perform great. I know carpenters who use these drills on a daily basis & have nothing bad to say about the product & love them. For over 5 years I used 1 of the older models of Makita's cordless drills on a daily basis & that thing rocked, it never let me down. Aside from that I've used their corded tools too be it drills or any type of saw (circular, miter, Jig & reciprocating). I know they make reliable products. What helped me make my final decision was a mixture of the carpenters who use these new LXT Li-Ion drills everyday & my own personal experience. The tools feel great & the drills are light & powerful, especially that mini-me impact driver. As for the reciprocating saw its a cordless, so I don't expect to be doing extra heavy duty stuff with it due to battery life. Except it makes one think from what from what I've researched. I've read on people cutting down tree's with the same model I now own. So I may just be doing heavier work with it than I anticipated. After I have used these tools a lot more than I have, in the next few months I will leave a more in depth review.

I realize this product has been out for a few years now. So I can understand when It was brand new on the market the tools may have had some bugs. As do most products when they are 1st released. Its now 2010, that being said, I've seen some of the same negative reviews I read here on amazon, on other sites. I mean I seen the same exact 1's word for word. All & all the positive reviews outnumber the negative one's & from my own personal experience with Makita products I'm confident with what I have purchased.Get more detail about Makita LXT407 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Piece Combo Kit.

Makita LXT211 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit Right now

I have nothing but good to say about this set. I have only used it around the house but have used it quite a bit. the impact driver is amazing. I can efortlessly drive 4" dry wall screws with no stripping of the head. and the drill has plenty of power and speed. I drilled many 1" holes with an old not too sharp spade bit after doing a couple of other projects on one battery. also the chuck doesn't seem to losen like other drills i've used when under pressure. the lights have even come in handy. I have used many drills and cordless tools in the past. without a doubt these are the best i've used. the weight of these is great and they are well balanced. the handles are extremely cumfortable. I can't wait until my next decking project. the free super saver shipping was fast and everything arrived as it should.Get more detail about Makita LXT211 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit.

Low Price Makita LXT406 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Piece Combo Kit

Good old Makita! My only real criticism of this package is the LED light on the drill. It's sort of marginally useful due to its location and casts a very annoying "V" shaped shadow upward from the bit. However, this still beats the hell out of my 1995-vintage 9.6v Makita drill that has no light. Also, the included old-school incandescent work light casts a weak, yellowish light and is of little value in my opinion and I've never used it, but some folks might like it I suppose. Other than that the whole kit is great.Get more detail about Makita LXT406 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Piece Combo Kit.

Discount Makita LCT200W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit

I've used this combo now for a couple of weeks, repairing a small aluminum airplane. I've used the drill mostly, the driver only a couple of times. It replaces a 10-year old 9.6v DeWalt drill.

The Makita is a good but not perfect drill. A few small gripes:

1. The 1.5amp-hour Li-Ion battery lasts for maybe 30 mins of use. So, if you're actively using it, you'll be swapping/recharging batteries throughout the day. Since it does recharge in 15 mins that not a problem for me, but maybe someday I'll get the 3.0 amp-hour battery.

2. Working upside down under the airplane wing, the cooling air blows through it at just the right angle to blow in your face along with aluminum cutting chips, unless you swivel the body to a slightly awkward angle. Yeah, that's an unusual use, but that's what I used it for these couple of weeks.

3. The LED light is a nice idea, but unfortunately the drill chuck casts a shadow on the drill point. Oh well.

4. I wish the driver had a clutch or some way reducing its tightening force...I don't want to torque much with an Al aircraft. But it will be handy for removing screws and bolts.

Nevertheless I heartily recommend this drill and combo if you need both. It's a good value for the money. I got this over its competitors because I wanted the fast recharge. Hope the batteries last!Get more detail about Makita LCT200W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit.

Cheapest Makita LXT702 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit, 7-Piece

Absolutely love the tools!! The shipping problems also appear to be fixed, mine was shipped placed inside of a stronger exterior box with everything intact. I would also agree with previous reviews that I'm not too keen on the duffel bag, it has pockets for two drills, the recip saw, and the charger, most everything else just lays loose in the bag. I did find that if I packed the radio in the bag as well things fit snugly and didn't get banged around too much. A solid case would have been nice but on the other hand most likely would have been extremely large. Quick review of tools -

Drill - better than awesome
Driver - Even better than the drill, already survived a drop off the ladder unscathed
Recip saw - Very strong, yet soft to operate
Angle Grinder - Like it but rpm seems slow, doesn't back down though and it has a cool overload indicator
light
Circular saw - Great for a battery powered saw
Flashlight - Bright, but would have liked to see LED and also a flexible goose neck design
Charger - maybe time to update to a more modern looking design but works well
Radio - Compact design is very nice, much smaller than other job site radios and it isn't an odd shape so it packs well. Looks very sturdy. Would be cooler if it could charge a battery.Get more detail about Makita LXT702 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit, 7-Piece.

Buy Makita LXT601 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit, 6-Piece

I purchased these tools to fill out my tool box, which I mostly use for Automobile repairs, but find that it makes sense to have a few high-quality saws around the house, to deal with the inevitable projects that come up. I order from Amazon, with free shipping, and the tools arrived about a week later. I've heard others complain about the packaging, but in my case, the packaging was perfect, and everything was packaged, as it should be, inside the box.
When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to also find a very well made carry bag, with roll-around wheels, and a rugged look and feel.
The tools are simply the best, and even better than I anticipated. Both the drill and the impact wrench come with LED lighting, to assist you if you're working in dark places.
The drill and impact wrench have perfect rotational balance, and while the sawzall is a bit heavier than expected, it is most certainly bullet-proof, and able to cut just about anything.
Great tools at a great price, what else needs to be said.Get more detail about Makita LXT601 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit, 6-Piece.

Purchase Makita LCT203W 10.8-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Two-Piece Combo Kit

These two tools work well as an alternative to my much larger and more powerful Porter Cable cordless drill. One negative, the high speed of the drill is a bit too slow for efficient drilling. I checked the speed with a tach. and it is turning at specification level, so the tool is not defective, it's just slow.Get more detail about Makita LCT203W 10.8-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Two-Piece Combo Kit.

Order Factory-Reconditioned Bostitch U/CPACK300 3-Tool and Compressor Combo Kit

I ordered the CPACK300 on Sunday evening, and Fed-Ex was ringing the doorbell at 8:30 am Tuesday morning. Everything inside the box looked brand new, and I've used all the guns already, and all worked perfectly. I got 1,000 each of 2" finish nails, 1" staples, and brads, and the tool bag and shrink wrapped hose. All the instructions and warranty papers were in the tool bag. The only thing missing was the oil that supposedly comes with the kit, but I'm actually glad, because the packaging was so bad that it probably would have leaked onto everything. If it wasn't for Fed-Ex handling the package with care, I'm sure it would have come with some sort of damage. I'm glad it didn't, but I sent amazon a bad review on the packaging, and I'm following it up with a call to customer service.

Besides the packaging, I'm am very pleased with this purchase and the quality of the tools. I wish I had bought something like this a long time ago. I have a 3/8" flooring project I got hired for and another project replacing all the floor and door trim in an entire house... so I'm looking forward to using this combo kit. So far so good - time will tell on the longevity of the quality.

BTW - I also purchased the 50 foot Goodyear rubber hose to go along with this kit. The hose that comes with it seems good, but it's not rubber, and for $20 the Goodyear is the best price I've seen by far for a hose of that quality. I don't want to be in the middle of work and have to run out and pay $50 for a replacement hose.Get more detail about Factory-Reconditioned Bostitch U/CPACK300 3-Tool and Compressor Combo Kit.

Where To Buy Makita LCT300W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo Kit

Likes: 1) Price for the combo. 2) Size and weight of the drill is great, not too heavy. 3) The LED light provides some light without having to hold a flashlight. 4) The torque. I just used the drill to drill 4 1" holes through double headers in my attic to run wiring. Did it fast and without any slowdown. I like that, cause I did not want to be in my hot attic any longer than I had to be. 5) No cord. 6) Quick recharge of the batteries

Dislike: 1) Battery life is way too short. 2) The instructions on how to charge the batteries are not clear. I had to go online and read up on how to properly charge the batteries. I think I have it now - leave the battery on till the last light is a solid green, but don't leave your battery on the charger any longer - it will shorten its life.Get more detail about Makita LCT300W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo Kit.

Shop For Milwaukee 2691-22 18-Volt Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

I reviewed the Impact driver only from this kit last week but I never took it out of the box. I said that I was really mad at Milwaukee for not standardizing there battery coupling. In other words why can't Milwaukee use the same hook up to there tools like DeWalt, Makita, and festool. Well I broke down and bought this 2691-22 kit because I needed to get an Impact Driver and all I can say is WOW!!!!!! I have used a friends Dawalt and also a Makita and I know this Milwaukee 1/4" Impact is AWESOME!!!! It delivers much more power than the Makita and Dewalt. And it feels better in the hand also than the other 2 tools. I tested this tool out on my John Deere GT235 mower's blades and in less time than my CP air impact wrench would take I had all three blades off and I didn't have to pull out the air hose and lift the heavy air tool under my mower. Then I drove 3 - 6"x 3/8" lag bolts into a pressure treated 4"x4" without drilling a pilot hole and countersunk all 3 of them. This tool never slowed down or grunted. My friend that has the Dewalt 1/4" Impact driver tried my new Milwaukee and drove 2 more lag bolts in the same 4"x4" and turned to me and said he wanted to trade his 4 piece Dewalt kit and his Dewalt Job Site radio for my Impact driver with charger and 2 compact batteries. My answer was NO WAY!!!!!!! As for the Drill/Driver in the kit I might use it, but will probably get the Compact Hammer drill and sell the one that came in the kit. I now have 2 18v NiCad hammer drills and 2 V18 hammer drills a V18 flash light a NiCad Job Site Radio and now a M18 Impact driver and drill/driver all made by Milwaukee. And that just scratches the surface of other makes of cordless tools and corded tools. I do have to admit that Milwaukee still has the best fit and feels better in the hand than any other tool I own or have tried. Also Milwaukee has the best warranty of any other tool except Festool. But I can buy 3 Milwaukee 2691-22 kits for just 1 Festool Impact driver with charger and batteries. And I would rather have the MIlwaukee. I have a Milwaukee warranty shop within 6 miles of my house so I have no complaints at allGet more detail about Milwaukee 2691-22 18-Volt Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit.
